Kate who?

Kate Hillier is a member of the renowned English horticultural family. The business – Hillier Nurseries – is one of the largest in England. www.hillier.co.uk

Kate is a qualified horticulturist and has over 30 years’ experience in both the horticultural and landscape industries both in England and New Zealand.  Over the years, she has enjoyed a variety of roles having worked in many different areas of the industry including her role as General Manager of the Ellerslie International Flower Show and Founder and Event Director of the New Zealand Flower and Garden Show.  These roles, have involved working and mentoring some of New Zealand’s most talented landscape designers and contractors, encouraging them to get the absolute best out of their designs.

Kate held the role of Vice President of the Nursery & Garden Industry of New Zealand for 10 years until 2016 (recently re-named NZ Plant Producers Incorporated) she is also a key member of the Steering Committee of Gardening New Zealand.

Kate has been a regular show garden exhibitor winning a number of gold medals and the People’s Choice Award at the 2014 Singapore Garden Festival.  An experienced and knowledgeable international judge Kate has judged at all of the top garden shows around the world including the role of Convenor of Judges at the inaugural Gardening World Cup in Japan. She has also judged at Philadelphia, Singapore, Melbourne, Malaysia and both Royal Horticultural Society Events – Chelsea and Hampton Court Flower Shows.
