Garden Audit and Consultation

This service includes a visit by myself to your garden for a one on one consultation with the following recommendations:

Garden Design:

Advice on how your garden can be designed or adjusted to suit your lifestyle and tastes for example:

  • City and Courtyard.
  • Low maintenance.
  • Informal and Cottage.
  • Formal
  • Modern Garden
  • Water Garden etc.

Garden soil pH and nutrition test:

  • A pH soil test will let you know the existing soil type and growing conditions. 
  • The nutrition test will identify concentrations of Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium. 
  • Upon completion of the tests I can advise you on how to improve this (where possible) to help create the best possible growing conditions.

Planting recommendations:

  • The list of recommended plants will be written in conjunction with you and will be based on your taste and colour preference but also environmental conditions and soil type.

Garden Growing Improvements:

Advice on how to improve the growing conditions, pests and disease control, fertilising etc.

Specific client garden queries:

To achieve the most out of your consultation I recommend that you think in advance of any gardening goals and challenges you might have, how much time you want to devote to gardening and any design or plant questions you might have.  Have your list of questions on hand prior to my initial visit.

Price: $550 + GST This consultation includes a visit of up to 2 hours on site and a detailed written and photographical report

Price: $350 + GST This consultation includes a visit of up to 2 hours on site and allows for the client to take their own notes.

Further to the garden audit and consultation service, I am delighted to assist you further. Additional services include:

Ongoing Garden Visits

  • Do you need a little more assistance and/or reassurance that all is progressing well in your garden?  Regular appointments can be diarised to visit your garden and provide updates to keep your plans progressing!

Setting the Scene

  • Do you have a key event coming up?  Perhaps a wedding or birthday party?  Are you putting your house on the market?  I can help provide guidance on how to ‘titivate’ your garden, to have it looking at its best, on a specific date.  I can also help with setting up and providing props to make your garden look its best!

Orcharding Advice

  • Many of us have been inspired to grow our own fruit and nut trees, or perhaps you have taken over an old garden with existing trees?  It can be quite daunting, with few of us having the knowledge on how to care for an orchard.  I am happy to provide that knowledge.
    • A visit to your garden with advice provided on which trees to prune and how to do so, what fertilisation techniques need to be employed both to achieve a significant fruit harvest and to support the ongoing health and vigor of the trees themselves.

Project Oversight

Avoid the hassle of having to manage the project yourself, I am happy to provide an independent option where I will monitor the work on your behalf.  This will ensure your work is completed to time and budget and detailed communication of any issues.

Plant Sourcing:

  • Having worked collaboratively with my clients, to create a planting plan that suits your tastes and garden requirements, I can also provide a plant sourcing option.  I will source the plants you require and if purchases are of a significant quantity, I will be able to secure them at prices significantly below retail.

Sourcing of key garden design components:

  • Finding something a little unique or ideal to your taste can be challenging, I can help secure these key design items such as water features, sculptures etc.

Selecting a Landscape Designer or Contractor:

  • At the end of the consultation process, it may become obvious, that you do need to seek a Landscape Designer and/or Contractor, I can help by specifically selecting a professional to compliment your preferred design style, and requirements. One whom I am confident you can work with successfully.

Recommendations for garden maintenance requirements:

  • It maybe that despite the advice or indeed because of the advice provided by myself, you may need to secure an ongoing maintenance contractor.  Again, I can provide recommendations of a maintenance contractor with whom you will work comfortably.

Price: $115 + GST per hour

Travel

The world is your garden, and whilst I am based in Auckland, I am happy to travel wherever my services are required.  The clients would need to cover travel costs.  A quote can be provided on request.
